Weatherized

Privacy Policy

Effective 28 September 2026

This policy explains what Weatherized collects, why, and what it never collects. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

What stays on your device, always

Photos of your clothes never leave your iPhone. They are stored in the app's private storage and are not uploaded, backed up to our servers, or shared. When a garment's details are synced, the photo's file name is removed first, because it means nothing to any other device.

Health data read from Apple Health — see below — is also never uploaded. It is used on the device to adjust a suggestion and is not stored anywhere else.

Account information

If you create an account, your email address and password are handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service. We never see or store your password.

Signing in with Apple or with Google uses those providers' own flows; we receive only the identifier and, if you allow it, an email address and display name. If you choose Apple's private relay address, that is what we get, and it is all we get.

Wardrobe and preferences

When you are signed in, the details of your wardrobe — item names, categories, colours, warmth, water resistance, quantity, and how recently you wore something — sync to Cloud Firestore so they survive a lost phone and appear on your other devices. Your preferences (units, language, style, how you feel the cold, reminder schedule) sync the same way.

Your day plan — the activities you add and when they happen — syncs the same way, so it follows you to a new phone.

Changes you make to a suggested outfit — swapping a piece, adding one or taking one off — are used to learn your taste and how warm you like to be. What it learns is a number per wardrobe item and one for warmth, stored with your wardrobe and preferences and synced the same way. It stays in the app; it is not used for advertising or shared with anyone. You can reset it in Settings.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your approximate location to look up the weather. Coordinates are sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve a forecast, and to Apple's geocoder to turn them into a city name. Your location is not stored on our servers and is not used to build a movement history.

If you would rather not share location, choose a city manually in Settings. The app works exactly the same way.

Health data (menstrual cycle)

If you turn on cycle-aware suggestions, the app asks Apple Health for permission to read menstrual flow entries. It uses them only to work out roughly where you are in your cycle, because body temperature and comfort change across it, and to nudge the warmth of a suggestion.

This data is read on demand, used on the device, and never written to our servers, never attached to a shared outfit, never used for advertising, and never sold or disclosed to anyone. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app or by turning the setting off. Turning it off stops all reading immediately.

Community content

Anything you deliberately share to the community — the outfit, the weather it was chosen for, the city name, your caption, your display name, and a photo if you attach one — is public to other signed-in users of the app. Your votes and comments are stored with your account identifier. Attached photos are stored in Firebase Storage.

Please don't post anything you would not be comfortable being seen publicly.

You can report any post or comment from the ••• menu on it, and you can block someone so their posts and comments stop reaching you. Blocking is private — they are not told — and you can undo it under Settings → Blocked accounts. We store the list of accounts you have blocked under your own account, where only you can read it.

How shared photos are checked

Photos attached to a community post are screened for nudity and sexually explicit content before anyone else can see them. This happens in two stages, and a photo has to pass both.

Both checks are automated. No person at Weatherized looks at your photo as part of this routine screening. We review an image by hand only if it is reported to us, or if we are investigating a specific complaint, and we can remove any photo from the community.

The photo you upload is sent to Google Cloud Vision only for this check. It is not used to train anyone's models, is not retained by that service after the check, and is not used for any other purpose.

Notifications

The daily reminder is scheduled and delivered on your device. Its contents — the forecast and the suggested outfit — are produced on the device and are not sent through any server.

Who else is involved

The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in United States state privacy laws.

Keeping and deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account. That permanently removes your sign-in from Firebase Authentication.

Please note what deletion does not do: your posts, comments and votes — including the display name shown on them — remain in the community, and your synced wardrobe details are retained. This is described on the deletion screen before you confirm. If you want your community content removed as well, delete the individual posts first, or write to us at gaston.coinbase@gmail.com and we will remove it.

Your wardrobe and photos on the device are yours; deleting the app removes them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Write to gaston.coinbase@gmail.com and we will respond. We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Children

Weatherized is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, or under the minimum age in your country. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
